Bells
In 1986 the church bells were refurbished, fitted with new cast-iron headstocks and retuned. The work was done by Whites of Appleton who removed them from the bell tower and took them to bell founders John Taylor in Loughborough. They were returned to Whites for final tuning and to have new bearings fitted, then transported free-of-charge to Deddington by local builders’ merchants Johnsons, and rehung. A full peal was rung on Christmas Eve of that year. The cost of the work was £15,131, raised by public appeal, individual donations and grants, and was kept down by local help to get the bells down and back into place (pics courtesy of Dee Berridge, taken by her late father Roy Berridge)
